An Adventure in Flower Farming

My husband Matt and I both grew up on San Juan Island. After years of working abroad and on the east coast, we were able to move home to San Juan Island with our kids. Our first spring here, we put in a huge vegetable garden, planted fruit trees and berry bushes, brought home dairy sheep, and added chickens and ducks. Fast forward a few years and the only real changes are that the dairy sheep are retired from milking, we’ve traded some of the vegetables for flowers, and one of our kiddos has left the farmlet for college!

I’ve also rediscovered my love of floral design. My first job working for a florist was during college 25 years ago. The last 3 summers I’ve been fortunate to work as a freelance floral designer for two of our local florists. Now, I’m excited to offer wedding florals featuring flowers grown on our farmlet!
